What’s New?

You may be wondering what new items Frugal Fashionista has to offer.  I’m always on a mission to stay up to date with current trends and as always trying to find ways to bring those items to my clients at an affordable price.

This evening I would like to introduce you to the “snap” jewelry that I flooded the Facebook page with, for what seemed like a few weeks straight.

The name is pretty self explanatory.  The jewelry pieces literally snap together.  They are quick and easy, but yet look far more expensive than what you have paid.  Which is great if you ask me 😉

You must purchase the jewelry base and then purchase individual snaps to put on the base.  When you feel like switching things up simply exchange one snap for another.  The snaps are $5 each no matter the design and the jewelry bases range from $6 - $15.  If you ask me that’s a great deal.

Visit the website to see what snaps and snap bases are available.

Thank goodness for Snapchat filters.  Me showing off my snap necklace and so happy to be wearing the super soft floral shirt that are available here.

That’s all I’ll overload you with.  Don’t miss out.  Head over to the website and check out these snaps.  You won’t be sorry.

Faux Leather Earrings

I’ll apologize now for future blasts of faux leather earrings, I may have a new obsession. I have to give credit to Joanna Gaines.  You may know her from HGTV’s show Fixer Upper.  She has such a wonderful style and has been sporting simplistic, yet beautiful leather earrings lately.  I wanted to find a way to achieve the same look, but on a budget.  The earrings shown below are what I’m wearing today.  They are one of the many styles/designs that I have cut.  I will be making these in different color schemes and I’ll let you in on a little secret..... these will also be made in a gloriously shiny glitter/sequin Design.  Keep your eyes open as they will be available to purchase from the website very soon.  I love these for multiple reasons, first being that they are so incredibly light weight that you will truly forget you even have them in.  I’ve never been a person that does well with larger sized earrings.  I’m usually a stud or post wearing girl but these are perfect for me. Secondly, as you all know by now, I’m the Frugal Fashionista.  I like to look great with out breaking the bank.  😉

Help with Hurricane Harvey Pet Evacuations

If you're anything like me you have been keeping up to date with Hurricane Harvey and have been left feeling terrible for all those suffering in its aftermath.  The flooding still continues and rescue efforts are still happening as some areas are continuing to flood.  Animal rescues are being aired frequently showing both scenarios where people stayed behind with their animals and also where unfortunately some owners decided to leave their animals behind to fend for themselves.  Austin Pets Alive is one of many organizations doing everything they can to rescue and shelter pets that are being displaced by the storm.  If you are able to donate even just a dollar please do so as every dollar really does make a difference.  Click here to head to their site to donate.

Jaclyn Hill Palette Review

Youtube master guru jaclyn hill recently released a palette of 38 shadows ranging from matte to shimmers with cosmetic company morphe brushes. The palette sold out in minutes and I was one of the lucky few  to score a palette the moment it launched on the website! So is it really worth all the hype? Yes, yes and yes! If you're familiar with morphe palettes, their shadows are always pigmented, very easy to blend and affordable, this palette is no different! The quality is just as amazing as other morphe palettes! The jaclyn hill palette is set to be restocked soon for $38 but be sure to wake up early for it and have the website already pulled up it will certainly sell out again!

Here it is the lovely palette!

Ignorance May Be More Costly Than Education....

I have set a new personal goal and thought I would share it with you all as well.  Who knows, some of you may share my interest and find this helpful.  I must admit that I have found myself embarrassed lately in how little I actually know about our history.  When I say history I mean many topics that have formed what our world is today, not just expanding my knowledge on for example the civil war.

With that said I think it's time to become a student again, and feed my mind with useful things rather than wastefully scanning Facebook, watching videos of puppies or chuckling over the latest Biden/Obama memes.  I am fortunate enough to have so many resources literally at the end of my fingertips there's no excuse not to take advantage of that and put it to good use.

My goal is to simply read at least one little article each day hopefully learning something new, or refreshing my mind on something long forgotten.  One website I find myself frequenting is History.com and looking over the On This Day In History section.  If you visit this site you will see today was a significant day in our nations history, as it was the day that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.  Scan further down the site and see other significant events that took place on this day.

I warned everyone early on that this blog will not always cover fashion or jewelry related topics.  This is simply a source to share anything I find interesting with those who follow.  If you happen to come across anything you find exceptionally interesting in your new learning experience endeavor please feel free to share here.  I'm open to learning about pretty much anything.

Glitter Nail Polish Tutorial

As I lay here suffering from a not so fun flu bug, I have been using my time wisely of course,  scanning thru Pinterest and YouTube when I stumbled upon this tutorial.  I have not tried this method but am definitely going to.  I am guilty of wanting that perfect glitter nail and becoming easily frustrated with the several layers I must apply and still don't have the look of a fully covered nail.  Not to mention the fact that it takes forever to dry and is usually smudged off before it dries.  If you happen to give this method a try let me know how it goes.  I will update you as well once I try this method as well.

I would also appreciate hearing back from my Fashionista's as to whether or not posts like these are found helpful.  Would you like to see more like this?

July Raffle

I hope you all have been enjoying the monthly raffles.  This month I've decided to switch things up just a little bit.  Instead of a larger gun concealment bag I have chosen a smaller style crossbody also made by Montana West.  Don't underestimate this bag.  It may be small but the detail and craftsmanship that went into creating this bag is amazing. 100% genuine leather, hand tooling and braiding makeup the front of this beautiful bag while the back is simple plain leather.  This comes with a strap to clip on (in pictures it's tucked away inside).

Also included in this raffle is a large grapefruit scented bath bomb with jewelry inside!  At the core you will find a stainless steel ring.

Total retail value of this raffle is $84.98 but you could win this for just $3!! What a deal!  Having said that tickets are $3 each and there will only be 20 tickets sold.  You must pay promptly in order to participate in raffle.  Once all tickets are sold, winning name will be announced.

Bath Bombs by Frugal Fashionista

I'm ready for a nap after this. My hands feel amazing and I suddenly feel more relaxed. I might just have to soak in the tub this evening too.  Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have.  My creative juices have really been flowing lately.  I'm seeing these not only being used to pamper yourself but they would make wonderful gifts.  The ideas are endless:  bridal shower gifts, bridesmaid gifts, baby shower reveal, jewelry surprises....engagement perhaps.

Huntingdon County Fair 2016

Frugal Fashionista is looking forward to participating, as a vendor, for yet another year at the Huntingdon County Fair.  This will be the 4th consecutive year of participation, and as always I strive to make the booth bigger and better each year.  In the past Frugal Fashionista has set up in one 10'X10' spot, however this year I am expanding and taking up one additional space.   At this point I have some rather large goals and can't let all the secrets out just yet, but you do NOT want to miss visiting the booth this year.

Once a schedule is available for the fair I will post here and attach a link as well.  Also once the booth spot is confirmed I will provide the building name and number so you will know where to find me.  If you have never experienced the Huntingdon Co. Fair, it's fun for the entire family.  There are plenty of animals to see, not to mention the ever so popular demolition derby and truck pulls throughout the week.

I hope to see you there!

New Makeup Tutorial

If you are looking for some makeup inspiration please check out my sisters youtube page here.  I would suggest subscribing to her page.  If you do so you'll receive notifications any time she uploads a new video.  She does FREE giveaways from time to time.  I believe she is currently working towards a goal of 500 subscribers so go and help her out!   If you are local she does free lance makeup for special occasions.

If you use Instagram you can also follow her there under stevenstera

I can say that I have learned about new products and techniques I otherwise would have continued to be clueless about.  I have attached her latest video below.

New Facebook Buttons

Have you noticed the new Facebook buttons?  We were all used to "liking" a post but you now have a few more options.  If you are on a mobile device you simply hold down on the like button and more options pop up such as love, HAHA, wow, sad and angry.  If you are using a computer just hover over the "like" button and you will see those same options.  I am thinking that this will give me an opportunity to better assess my customers feeling towards my posts.  Please feel free to use those buttons when you really love an item and hopefully I won't ever make you angry with one, but if I do let me know.  I took a snapshot and will provide it below so you can see what I'm talking about.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Succulent Jewelry??

After seeing this article I just had to share.  I personally love succulents and have been brainstorming different ways of how to incorporate them into our home for spring/summer.  I never would have thought to use them in such a way.  Feel free to read the short piece and view the additional images provided by CountryLiving.  What do you think?  Would you wear these?   I could definitely see these being used for an elegant occasion like a wedding.  Please leave your comments :)

Spray On Nail Polish??

After seeing this headline on my news feed I just had to share with my fashionistas.  Apparently a company called Nails, Inc is attempting to evolve the world of nail polish.

I must say that I'm a bit skeptical.  I won't truly believe that this works until I see it.  In short they have created a spray paint-like polish that as they say will change the life of clumsy girls everywhere.   "The spray-on polish, called Paint Can, is formulated to stick to nails but not skin, ensuring a flawless mani every time."  I'm very curious to see if it washes right off like they say, all while sticking to your nails flawlessly.....

The article does not mention how long the polish should nor does it state how many manicures you are to get from a can.  I traveled to the Nails, Inc site but couldn't not locate additional information, however you can sign up for notifications of when it's in stock.

I have attached the link here so that you can read it for yourselves.

What do you think?  Will you be pre-ordering?

The alternative to flat chocolate chip cookies

This evening I tried a new recipe I discovered on Pinterest here.  The dough took very little time prepare and they baked nice thick and fluffy.   The next time I make these I may reduce the chocolate chips just a bit and I will follow the baking time instructions exactly as I let mine in just a little longer as they appeared as though they were not cooked enough for such a thick cookie.  Afterwards I feel they would have been fine to take out.

Be prepared the dough is wet which gave me a scare but I saw reviews that stated that's normal not to worry and they were correct.
